In August I decided to change my life.
I had been in a long term relationship for 6 years and it ended, rather abruptly and emotionally. It was an unhealthy relationship, and had led me to live a pretty unhealthy lifestyle.
We’re talking consuming entire pizzas to myself and drinking a 6 pack of Coke a day. Eating all the sugary, fattening, processed, easy food I could get my hands on.
I’m 5’6″ and weighed 190 pounds. The heaviest I had ever weighed. I felt like complete crap. I wasn’t just emotionally drained, my body was drained. I had zero energy, and literally felt like a big fat blob of uselessness.
One day I woke up, and I said “Hey Mariah, what the heck is wrong with you! Wake UP! Be Happy.” So I did. I looked at my life and made a list of things I wanted to change. The first was my attitude. Crying all day because of my loser ex wasn’t helping me, nor was the 50+ extra pounds I was totting around. That 9×9 pan of chocolate cake I ate all to myself the night before wasn’t going to make me better or happier. Only I could do that.
That day I went to an Herbalife Nutrition club that we have in town. Here I got a meal replacement shake. They are about 210 calories with 24 grams of protein. You also get a tea for energy, and an aloe shot for digestion. The result – I didn’t feel like that big fat blog of uselessness. I felt great.
Fast forward a month…I went to that club almost everyday for a month. I stopped eating pizza 4 times a week, and only have it once. I stopped drinking pop because the Herbalife tea was WAY better. I decided to start an Herbalife Weightloss Nutrition Program. This means you have two shakes, two healthy snacks, and a colorful meal a day. I lost 10 pounds. 10 pounds without even trying, just by changing my diet.
Now obviously I was a terrible eater, so that’s not so surprising. Those on an Herbalife Weight-loss program on average lose about .5-2 pounds a week. It’s basically cutting calories, but you aren’t hungry, and don’t even notice you are eating less.
Then I started going to the gym with a friend and by November I had lost another 10lbs. 20 pounds in 3 months – I will take it! Plus the “You look awesome” comments were nice too. Who doesn’t like compliments?!
Now I have hit the stage where not really trying to lose weight no longer works. I need to push harder and eat better. I need help with the motivation for that. That is were all of you come in.
I want to help you, inspire you, or just share with you my journey. I am going to post meals and stories, and workouts…pretty much anything involved with my journey. Because that is what weight-loss/fitness is..A journey with ups and downs and successes and failures.
So here we go…
